Learning support for young people

The Learning Collective is an education service based in Wrexham, North Wales. We were established in January 2016 and we are now in our fifth year of operation.

Husband and wife partnership, Andy and Katie Taylor-Edwards, specialise in the provision of arts, literacy and numeracy-based education, as well as coaching services, for private clients, schools, local authorities and charities across the UK.

Collectively, we have 50 years’ of combined classroom and school leadership experience.

We currently provide our services to schools in Halton and the Wirral, Wrexham County Borough Council, Ty Pawb Arts Centre, The Anne Frank Trust UK and over 40 individual young people.

Who are we?

KATIE AND ANDY


Both Katie and Andy are fully qualified teachers with full and enhanced DBS disclosures. We are both registered with the Education Workforce Council of Wales.

Katie

Katie is a Linguistics graduate from the University of Manchester and she gained her Post-Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) in Secondary English from Manchester Metropolitan University in 1998. She has taught in secondary schools for 21 years, securing strong grades in KS3 tests, GCSEs and A-levels in both English and English Literature. Year on year, she achieved 'positive residuals', whereby the performance of her students always compared favourably to their performance in other subjects. She is currently working in local schools on the Wirral and in Halton, intervening with GCSE English students working below their potential.

Andy

Andy is educated to Masters’ degree level and holds a 2:1 Bachelor of Arts degree in Digital Media, Politics and Performing Arts. He is a qualified high school teacher with 20 years' experience of teaching English, Creative Media, Drama and Film Studies to students aged 11-19. Andy has held the posts of Head of Drama, Director of Creative Arts and has led teaching and learning across a range of senior leadership roles, including Principal.Andy is an accredited coach in Emotional Intelligence and is the Creative Director of District-14 Youth Theatre, which is resident at Ty Pawb Arts Centre, Wrexham.
